Clinical cases

Clinical case gallery

A small selection of clinical cases treated with the MTM approach. Real situations in which the bone and gingival deficits had been produced by different causes (agenesis, misplaced implants and retreatments, road accidents) and resolved by rebuilding the patient's own tissues, without bone grafts or membranes, in a single surgical session.

Agenesis

Agenesis of the upper left lateral incisor. The adjacent canine had migrated into the lateral incisor position

Esthetic dystonia caused by the canine occupying the position of the missing lateral. Solution: transformation/camouflage of the canine into a lateral incisor; extraction of the deciduous canine and implant placement. Esthetic integration optimized with a professional whitening treatment before the prosthetic phase. The entire therapy completed in 3.5 months without using membranes or grafts.

Retreatment

Implants on two misplaced upper lateral incisors, gummy smile, extensive deficient conservative restorations

Implant repositioning, reconstruction of the site's anatomical context with the MTM approach and complete rehabilitation with full-ceramic veneers and crowns.

Outcome with a gummy smile, initial situation
Before
Intermediate phase of treatment with the MTM approach
During
Harmonious smile after treatment with the MTM approach
After
Retreatment

Misplaced implant, gummy smile and failed prosthetic restoration

Dystonic esthetic outcome and worsening of the gummy smile produced by the previous treatment. Reconstruction of the gingival volumes and contours with the MTM approach to restore a harmonious, natural smile profile as the ideal basis for the complete rehabilitation of both arches with full-ceramic crowns and veneers.

Agenesis of the two upper lateral incisors, initial situation
Before
Upper arch restored after treatment with the MTM approach
After
Complete smile in occlusion after treatment with the MTM approach
After
Agenesis

Agenesis of both upper lateral incisors

Restoration of the osteo-muco-periosteal volumes and implant placement in a single surgical phase and in short operating times, four months. Esthetic integration was optimized with a whitening treatment of the dentition and two full-ceramic veneers on the two central incisors.

Initial edentulous ridge, horizontal bone volume deficit after trauma
Initial situation
Frontal smile, 9-year follow-up after treatment with the MTM approach
Frontal at 9 years
Lateral profiles, 9-year follow-up after treatment with the MTM approach
Lateral at 9 years
Low bone volume

Insufficient horizontal bone volume

The bony ridge, mutilated by a road accident that produced, besides the traumatic avulsion of the patient's right lateral and central incisors, also that of the vestibular alveolar bone plate, had been judged untreatable, except with major bone grafts and multiple procedures, by the previous professionals consulted, who did not commit to the time needed to fully complete the restorative therapies. The site was treated with ridge expansion and the simultaneous placement of two implants in a single session, drawing on the tissue regeneration induced by the MTM approach.
